The consultation paper, Economic modelling of Australia’s potential emissions reduction pathways, seeks feedback on the authority’s early thinking on a modelling approach to support its advice to government for Australia’s 2035 Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement.
This consultation paper outlines the authority’s early thinking on a modelling approach, including potential scenarios and assumptions.
Economic modelling is a key input to the authority’s advice for Australia’s 2035 emissions reduction target. It will help the authority understand the opportunities and costs for the Australian economy that are associated with different emissions reduction scenarios. The modelling will be complemented by other analysis, data, consultation and qualitative research.
If you are an expert in climate change or economic modelling or have views on how the authority should approach economic modelling, we want to hear from you. Your feedback on this consultation paper will inform the modelling and related analysis that the authority will use when developing its advice to government.
